An
elegant showpiece
This breakfront china cabinet was made
as a display piece for the showroom at
William Evans Furniture, but it
didn’t stay there long. (See
testimonial.) The inspiration for the
piece goes back to the late 1700s, a period
when the practice of collecting china was
widespread and cabinets like this one
became very popular. At that time it was
difficult to produce large panes of glass,
so intricate door patterns were devised,
and smaller pieces of glass were cut to fit
between the mahogany mullions, just as Bill
did here. And he’s itching to make
another one.
